ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born to Pamela Morgan (age 30) and Michael Morgan on July 2 1989. She was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was an athlete of multiple sports throughout her early years, but first discovered soccer at 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and took home the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also came in third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued her education at Diamond Bar High School, where she improved her soccer abilities. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) selected Morgan as an All-American Athlete. Additionally, she was a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan completed her soccer journey at UC Berkeley, where she played a key role in leading the California Golden Bears team in scoring from the very beginning of the season. She helped bring the team into the NCAA Tournament all four years and even made it to the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Following her graduation before the end of the year in 2010, Morgan was ranked third in all-time goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan managed to have soccer careers at both the college and national levels during her college education. In her first year with the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury that kept her from participating in the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. In the following season Morgan scored her first goal for the international team in the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Her team took home an Olympic gold medal. She also scored her first international goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. One of these goals was a victory over Italy that earned the U.S. team the final place at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest member of the team and he led the team to victory against France. Morgan was the team's youngest player, and led them to victory against Japan.
