Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born in New York City to actors Melissa D. Canaday and Edward James Hyland. When she was just four years old she entered the business by performing voiceovers and commercial work. The first film she made was Private Parts (1997). The Object of My Affection was her second film. She appeared on Another World (1964), as Rain Wolfe, a child who was found in the park and was fostered by Josie. Sarah was to work with Amy Carlson ("Josie") a few more times: Falcone (2000). Law & Order (1990). Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was selected to play the role of "Audrey Hepburn" in Jennifer Lovehewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story (2001). In the same year, she also selected to play "Molly" in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999). Starring Kathy Bates, Audra Mcdonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chenoweth and JoeGould's Secret (2000) as well as Falcone (2000). Sarah was a vocalist as well as tap, jazz, and hip-hop as well as television and film work. Sarah, a New Yorker, was also an invited performer for her Theatre and tap classes at "Reel to Real" Lincoln Center. When she was home-schooled by her mother, she attended a public school until second grade. She was accepted in 6th grade to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School), where she remained until 2008 when she graduated. Sarah was 18 when she relocated to Los Angeles. She landed on a plane named "My American Family" within two weeks. The pilot's name was later changed to Modern Family (2009, after Sarah was chosen). Sarah currently portrays Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
