Yvonne Joyce Craig

Yvonne Joyce Craig (May 16, 1936 - - August 17, 2015), was an American dancer, dancer, and choreographer. Her most famous work is for her character in Batman's 1960s TV series Batman as well as Marta she was an Orion slave girl wearing green skin in Star Trek's 1969 episode "Whom Gods Destruction". The Huffington Post referred to her as "a pioneer in female super heroes" on TV. Yvonne Craig was born in Taylorville, Illinois, and was raised in Columbus, Ohio. Her family relocated to Dallas in 1951. She attended W. H. Adamson High School, Sunset High School as well as W. H. Adamson High School. Unfortunately, she was not able to graduate as she didn't have "one credits for PE". After being spotted by Alexandra Danilova, a ballerina and instructor, Craig joined the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo as the youngest corps de ballet member. As she performed as Batgirl and was a Batgirl, the lessons proved extremely beneficial. In 1957, she resigned from the company "over an issue with casting changes". She moved to Los Angeles in hopes of being able to continue her career in dance. However, she soon found herself in films roles. Her first appearance was in a TV episode of Perry Mason ("The Case of the Lazy Lover"), alongside Neil Hamilton. Hamilton later became Batgirl's Police Commissioner James Gordon. Soon after her appearance in The Young Land, The Gene Krupa Story (all 1959) and Gidget (all 1958) she was also a guest on Beverly Mills on the TV show Mr. Lucky (also 1959). Craig made an appearance with Bing Crosby in High Time (1960) as well as in Seven Women from Hell (1961) which was co-starred with Cesar Romero. In 1962, she was a guest star in Western Laramie's "The Long Road Back" episode. She also appeared with Bing Crosby in High Times (1960) as well as Seven Women from Hell (1961), both of which featured Cesar Romero. Craig also starred in two Elvis Presley films: It Was at the World's Fair (1963), as well as Kissin Cousins (1964). She also starred in the science fiction film Mars Needs Women (1966) as well as in In Like Flint (1967) as an in-character Russian dancer who was paired with James Coburn.
